March Birthdays

A lot of my very favorite people were born in March. Both of my parents, my husband, my sweet mother-in-law, and a daughter, to name a few.  Here's a little of how we celebrated.

My mother passed away almost 7 years ago, but I wanted to remember her in a special way on her birthday this year. I decided to make one of her signature bakes, whole wheat English muffins, and in the true spirit of Anne Martin, give some away. It was a wonderful way to remember her, and we didn't mind eating the rest here at home.

As far as the local people go, we celebrated my dad's birthday first. It was sandwiched in between the paint/carpet remodel in our front room and having the rest of the house painted and I was weary and so grateful that Mark and Lynne brought yummy food to help us celebrate with dinner and dessert. We are blessed to have Grandpa close by.

Next up was my man. It was a Saturday and I do know that he worked very hard and helped out a ton around the house. He even bought his own chocolate cake from Costco!  We were supposed to go out shopping that night for his birthday present, and here we are a month later and it still hasn't happened.... It wasn't a complete wife fail - I did let him take a 6-day trip all by himself a couple of weeks previously.

My favorite man, thinking hard about his birthday wish.

Then there is this little girl. She was SICK on her birthday:  fever for 6 days with a yucky cough and some pink eye thrown in. At first she was sad that she didn't get to be the superstar at preschool on her birthday, but honestly, she was too sick to care.

My hero husband picked up a little bundlet cake for her and all she was up for was to blow out the candles (she never even tasted it). She was sooo excited to turn 5, but this bug took the pep right out of her.

We did have a few presents for her to open that morning, but to get her big present she needed to get better so that she could go pick it out at the store. She gets an A+ for being patient and waiting 5 days until we could go pick this out.
