Ed Roland and the Collective Soul gang ...



For BrainShare this year Collective Soul was the band. I couldn't have picked someone I'd rather hear more than these guys.



So it was especially cool that a buddy and I got VIP passes. He brought the camera. This pic illustrates how close we were to the front. I was literally 3 people from the stage. And these were not your average concert goers, I could have made an arse of myself if I'd wanted to and gotten closer.

Almost everyone in the audience (about 10,000 people) had glow-necklaces. Toward the end tons of people were throwing them on stage and up to the "mosh-pit" (I'm still not sure why they called it the "mosh pit", as I was the only one moshing, and it was all by myself, and mostly in my head). Glowing ring things flew through the air, we'd catch the ones from the audience and throw them on stage, much to the band's delight. We didn't have flowers, after all.

At the end, Ed Roland and the guys were throwing the glow-rings back to the audience. I got the last one he threw back. That means nothing to anyone but me, so I guess I just have to say neener neener.

The new album is amazing.

Life indoors these past few months has inspired a new-found love for our often neglected

family-member, Daisy. Not that she's neglected. She eats quite well. Relative to the other members of the noisy household, though, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. And that's universally the kiddos. However, Drew and Hannah have taken a particular fancy to Daisy lately, and Daisy really enjoys Hannah. She's not sure about what to think of Drew, however. She's well tempered, as long as she's not eating. And she tolerates Drew's bits of attention. He shows his affection - - even to his siblings and parents, by grabbing big chunks of our faces with his baby banana-hands. Good grip, mind you.

The winter's not all bad. In fact, there have been some cool things to do, indoors, too. Autorama was indoors, and there were some very cool things. Jakers and I went up to Autorama together - father/son thing. He got to pose with Lightning McQueen (this is a real car, as you can see).

I was quite taken by the lovely host of Cobras.

The thing about a blog, or a journal, for that matter, is that it requires a bit of back-logging when you've missed a bit of time. However, I've made a commitment to be more vigilant, and post at least weekly, and sometimes more.

Thus, we can't go far without showing some of the cool stuff we've enjoyed this winter. Here's a pic of our new house covered in winter delight.

Jacob loved the snow - when he was properly dressed. In her younger days, Hannah viewed the snow as candy falling from the sky. It was not uncommon for her to find a snow drift and just stick her face in it. When she pulled it up minutes later, her face was red with cold, and her little tongue was licking all the snow off around her mouth. Jacob now carries that torch as snow-eater. There was plenty to consume this season.
