Jacob was having a hard time getting his before-breakfast-chores completed. A little inspiration alerted me to the fact that not only did he still have dishwasher duty but pet duty as well and that was more than his older sisters. I also got the inspiration for how to fix it: Drew got promoted from silverware to dishwasher and Camden got himself a job at the clean silverware post! He was so proud day one that he kept saying, "Mom, I'm doing my JOB!"
We've noticed that he likes to sort and collect all items together to put them away. For some reason knives are always the first. We're so proud of you Cam-man!

Quiet -- the good kind
Often at this house quiet can be a sign of mischief, but not today.
When I think that the television has babysat Drew too much already during my daily naps, we take to his bedroom and shut the door. He plays with toys, and I nap on Jacob's bed. I'm tired enough that I can sleep through a little bit of playing and if it gets quiet I wake up and notice if he has left the room. It works out a lot better than napping in my bedroom and noticing later that he has raided the pantry, or his sisters' bedroom, or worse.
I woke up today and it was quiet. When I dared to open my eyes this is what I saw.
What do I love most -- that his fist has stayed by his mouth for at least 30 minutes? That he set up camp on the floor and had his covers spread over him perfectly? The angelic expression that accompanies sleeping children? That he tried his hardest to be so good for his momma?
I guess being patient today wore him out! We shopped for a couple of hours at Walmart & Costco before heading to the local treatery to get a little something for my friend's birthday, and some good little shopping assistants as well. As I was laying down to sleep I said to Drew, "Thanks for taking such good care of me." He crinkled up his nose, laughed and said, "What??? I don't take care of you." I assured him that letting me take a nap was indeed taking very good care of his mommy.
When he is good, he is very, very good, and when he is bad...well, we just won't think about that today:).
