Just so you know, he actually requested that I cuff his ankles, and it only lasted for a minute or two. But some days...
Recent escapades of Drew:
*knocking the baby's dresser over and emptying some of the contents so that he could climb it to get to an out-of-reach helium balloon
*instead of sleeping in a "bag" while camping out on Mom & Dad's bedroom floor, he dumped about a quart of mouthwash down the drain, emptied the clothes hamper onto the floor, tried on Mom's shoes, got into some gifts that were stashed under my bed (he ate all the candy out of one of them) and generally caused mischief
*spilled his cup of milk all over the counter, cupboards and floor -- and just after that was cleaned up he spilled some of the pitcher of water soaking a couple of the sandwiches I had just made and an important piece of paper
*got into the garden four times in one small play session outside. Mom got smart and put a lock of sorts on the gate. Didn't stop Drew -- he just climbed the four foot chain link fence. Twice.
*climbing daily into the driver's seat and "driving". I consistently turn the car on to windshield wipers, blinkers, lights, etc. running.
That's what I can remember from the last 7 days.
In his defence, he is the sweetest little guy around. I love how he calls me "Mudder". And today at church he sat so quietly on my lap and we had a very tender game of copy-cat when we whispered in each others ears things like "I love you", "You're my favorite Drew", and "Jesus loves you". I love all the songs that he sings throughout the day. I love to see him being a wonderful and caring older brother and he is always good for a laugh. He has begun to demonstrate a bit of maturity and doesn't run away as much when I call him. I can see that one day he won't be so mischievously busy. The best times of the day are nap & bedtimes. Not because he is contained in his bed, but because we sit down to read a story or two. I love holding him on my lap, smelling his hair, squeezing his little body, and hearing him exclaim "this is my favorite!" or having him help me tell a familiar story. He really is my favorite Drew.
