Sadie Hawkins

Sent this cute girl off to Sadie Hawkins.

Friend Ali met her at our house so Ali's date could pick them both up (Morgan lives by us) and then they went to get Callie's date together.

The Asking:

Callie had been planning for a little while to ask Spencer on a Tuesday evening.  When the time came she had an address ready but it was dark out and her friend couldn't go with her.  Hannah wouldn't, so I got to go along as navigator.  Mutual had just gotten out at the ward building down the street from his house and Callie was terrified that he was going to come home right when she was doorbell ditching her invite.  She drove by his house several times, and the last time, the inside door was open and only the clear screen door was closed.  She just about had a heart attack but went ahead and left it there.  She could hear his mom talking and ran about as fast as she could back to the car.  Wish I'd taken a picture - she left a jar full of  Hi Chews, numbered.  On the back there was a letter on each one that spelled out the message, "I chews you as my date for Sadie Hawkins.  RSVP to Callie".  She found out the day after she asked him that 20 minutes before she knocked on his door he had been sitting in the front room, talking to his mom and saying that he didn't think he was going to get asked to Sadie's.  A little over a week later there was a knock at our door in the afternoon.  Camden and Emmie got to the door first.  When Callie arrived Camden was already licking one of the gourmet suckers and the cup they were in was spilled all over the porch, along with the rice holding them in.

 Those suckers kept Callie going for the 29 hours we spent in the car that weekend.  Thank you, Spencer!
