One Hello Kitty cake for one Adorable, Two Year Old Girl
If we are going to have a lot of cake, it might as well be yummy, right? Marrying a character cake recipe and a delicious cake recipe can get tricky. At least I had a happy, happy girl. She loved shopping for the ingredients, she loved being with me when we mixed it up.
Drummer Girl Em
She played by my side and carried the Hello Kitty template all over the house. She even watched the tutorial no fewer than 6 times!
During every stage of its creation she had to show it to whomever came to our door.
This was the inside:
Now topped: I was trying to mimic the Fresh Strawberry Cake at Kneaders and didn't quite make it, but it was still a pretty good cake.
When it was finished, she was NOT interested in getting her picture taken with it. I'm not sure if she even ate much of it. But the process was fun because I got to spend a lot of time with a very excited little girl.
I think it was a good day for her. There were also presents!
Hello Kitty panties!
Her very own copy of "Where's Walrus?" (or "walrus's" as Emmie calls it)
Brothers to follow her around as she tried out her new ride-on horse
And a Minnie Mouse dish set that almost never sees the dishwasher because it has to be washed by hand to be use-able for each meal/snack time. It is like her birthday multiple times a day - she is just as excited every time we go to eat and she looks in the cupboard for Minnie Mouse! What a happy, happy two years we have had with Emmie in our home.
That same week someone else hit the big 4-0! We had to make it special so he got 10 pies. He also got to share them with about 30 other people, but there was still plenty of pie to enjoy as leftovers for several days. Neighbor LaNell's Banana Cream and Apple Pies were definitely the show-stoppers, but I had to throw in Kentucky Derby and Pistachio Ice Cream as well. What a great way to celebrate a great guy!
