Thanksgiving, Cashmere-Style

After a stomach bug ran through half of us, we were blessed with health again on the day before Thanksgiving.  Under Angie's most capable hostess-ship, lots of hands helped to make it a wonderful holiday.

Haley and Callie were the pie helpers.  With the leftover crust they made mini apple pies that were tasty right out of the oven!

They did the tops of all of the pies that had cream topping

Look how cute they turned out!

Hannah and Katie set the tables

Ellis was the best butter-baster around

and I think Jacob was pretty good at taste-testing.

 Must be good

Years ago when we were all first married, Michael and Angie invited us over for dinner and Michael - now the head of a household - stood up and put his hands on his chair said, "We'd like to welcome the ---- and thank you for joining us today" in a little bit authoritative, a little bit goofy way.  It continues to this day.  Except here I think he also talked a bit about our blessings.

Angie has the yummiest spread you will taste anywhere - in addition to all the traditional foods, she had homemade apple cider, grape juice, and pickled asparagus.

These two girls might be related.  They both have a hand on their face.

Angie ensured there was plenty of pie - I think there were 13 for the 15 of us!

Ellie is so good with the little ones

Angie has lots of cupboards for Emmie to discover.

Tip for the future:  Camden makes a great pillow for napping.

 Charades

Someone had these two boys wrapped around her little finger.

We took a field trip to the candy factory, Applets and Cotlets.  However, they weren't doing the tours so we had to settle for terrorizing their gift shop.

And terrorize we did.  I bought something to try to make up for being such nuisances.  When we got back to our cousin's house we discovered there had been a theft.  Even though Tyler raced the perpetrator back to the store, it was closed.  We had to settle for mailing in an apology and money.

I am not sure why Camden is sad here, but he sure is cute!

There is lots of love amongst this family!

Jacob got a giant gobstopper in downtown Leavenworth.  He worked on it all weekend and still had it for months afterward.
